The simple analogy behind it is perfect, the taskbar consists of invisible buttons that are pushed down when the program is running/starting. I have one suggestion though, the mouse over effect should build on the same analogy. When you move the mouse over a pinned application that isn't running you should be able to see the button, the edges of the button should slope inwards but the surface of the button should still look as if it on the same hight as the rest of the panel. Do you understand how I mean?
And when the mouse button is clicked the button should be pressed down. This can be done with <if windows="0" type="mouse_button_down">. Here is an example [link] . I know the pixmap for the mouse over is kinda ugly and doesn't look like what I tried to describe above. I'm not an artist.
I think i know what you mean and i will tray something when i install gimp stable again. (some plugins doesnt work with unstable gimp so im limited right now XD)

Hmm tar.gz ist schon richtig.
schick mal dein theme und ich schau mal an ob es Fehler in der config gibt.
Das Problem scheint nicht am Theme selbst zu liegen. Bisher habe ich nur in einem vorhandenen vertikalen ein paar Grafiken (aus Deinem Theme ersetzt). Doch es wird einfach nicht als Theme erkannt. Das Problem scheint am Packen zu liegen. Als nächstes habe ich einfach mal Dein Theme entpackt und wieder neu gepackt und... es funktionierte auch nicht. Brauche ich ein bestimmtes Programm zum packen dafür? Wenn es hilft, Dir das Theme zu schicken, dann wohin?
